The expected Micromax YU smartphone line up has been in the news for some reasons. Micromax’s exclusive partnership with Cyanogen for the “YU” brand in India, made swells amid the Oneplus One dispatch in India. Presently, the company has sent a press welcome uncovering that the Yu series of smartphones will be propelled in India on December 18.
The welcome does not uncover much data aside from the date of the uncovering. The welcome reads, “Since time travel is not an option, block your date for 18.12.2014. Play God” As said above, Cyanogen has collaborated with Micromax in a exclusive partnership deal where the company will only support Micromax’s expected YU smartphones. As such, the Cyanogen said that it won’t issue updates “any other devices shipping to India running on Cyanogen.”
This brought up numerous issues about Cyanogen’s future with OnePlus One, since the last’s landing into India. To put rest to all perplexity, Cyanogen at last said that the Oneplus One as of now being sold through Amazon India won’t be getting OTA updates. But the updates will be given by OnePlus’s own custom built ROM. Cyanogen will give support to Indian OnePlus one devices till the OnePlus builds its own ROM. Their blog entry read:
As we had pledged to our users, OnePlus One global devices will receive our OTA firmware updates. If a user in India purchased a OnePlus One global device in channels outside of India, they will receive our OTA firmware updates. However, this excludes OnePlus One regional devices sold directly in India. We are committed to our exclusive partnership in India with Micromax, which will be launching its first Cyanogen OS device under their new YU brand.
In the mean time, Cyanogen declared its upcoming Themes application that will make a big appearance on the YU smartphone. This application will go about as a store for users to skim and download different themes for their smartphones.
