Motorola has begun teasing different aspects of the upcoming Moto G4 ahead of launch event on May 17.

Motorola is hosting an event on May 17 in India, where it is widely expected to take the wraps off the fourth-generation Moto G. Reports state that it could also launch a premium version, currently known as the Moto G4 Plus. In the run up to the event, Motorola has started teasing different aspects of the upcoming smartphones on its social media accounts.

The first aspect being teased is the battery life on the upcoming smartphones. Motorola tweets a couple of scenarios where a person was frustrated by smartphone’s battery dying. One of the tweets reads — ‘ #MISSING since he was about to propose a girl he likes. With better battery, no more missing out. Coming soon!’

The upcoming smartphones or at least one of them is also likely to feature a fingerprint scanner. A tweet posted by Motorola reads — ‘#Missing since his dad saw his browser history. With better security, make it daddy proof. Coming soon!’ As per leaks we have come across, the Moto G4 Plus is likely to feature a fingerprint scanner placed below the display.

The last feature being teased by Motorola is fast autofocus on the smartphones’ camera. The tweet reads — ‘The autofocus ruined Stacy’s 18th birthday picture. Stop #missing on milestones with a better camera. Coming soon!’

The camera on the upcoming Moto G is likely to feature Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), which is known to focus on a subject in less than a second. Cameras have not exactly been a highlight feature on the Motorola smartphones, but it will need a capable shooter to compete against the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and the LeEco Le 1s among others.

From what we have heard so far, both the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus will have a similar set of specifications with only the fingerprint scanner differentiating the two variants. The Moto G4 Plus variant is also expected to include laser autofocus along with its primary camera.

In terms of design, both devices are likely to feature curved edges, matte finish, and a pill-shaped camera strip at the back. As for specifications, the smartphones are said to feature a 5.5-inch 1080p display, an octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB internal storage.
