Singtel and Starlink partner up to boost marine digital solutions by combining cutting-edge technology to improve crew well-being, efficiency, and safety.

To improve its marine digital products, Singtel, a Singaporean telecom provider, has partnered with Starlink. Through the partnership, ship owners and operators will be able to take benefits of cutting-edge technologies like edge computing, 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud-based solutions, which will enhance crew well-being, safety, and operational efficiency.

Singtel plans to include Starlink’s satellites into its iSHIP platform, which features Paragon a cloud service and 5G edge computing platform as part of its marine digital solutions. The Starlink first low Earth orbit (LEO) broadband service that Singtel offered for ships.

Ship operators should be able to analyze data in real time thanks to the partnership’s anticipated improvements in connection and low latency capabilities. According to the official release, this will result in more output, lower fuel consumption costs, and better operational maintenance.

Multiple Orbit Approach

“The maritime sector is a complex, networked ecosystem with thousands of terminals, ships, and ports worldwide exchanging massive amounts of data. As the sector begins to accept digital transformation, we have observed increased needs for low-latency, quicker, and more robust connection,” stated Singtel.

Network Globally available

Being the only telco in Southeast Asia with a multi-band satellite network that offers both geostationary orbit (GEO) and low-Earth orbit (LEO) services, Singtel said that its clients can be guaranteed that their crews and ships would remain connected even under the most extreme marine situations.

With more than 5,000 satellites in its constellation, Starlink can offer worldwide marine coverage for ships of all sizes, with download speeds of up to 220 Mbps. This makes it simple to support fleet management, remote monitoring, and navigation, according to Singtel.

Unified marine services

Singtel and Starlink service integration with Singtel iSHIP and Paragon, together with its unique servicing package, ship operators and their crew may receive a comprehensive managed service experience.
