Etisalat by e& Finishes Equipment Capability Testing of 50G PON

Etisalat by e&

Etisalat by e& stated, The Middle East’s first symmetric 50G PON (50-Gigabit-capable passive optical networks) equipment test for broadband services was successfully completed. The firm said in a press release that a 50G PON network technology upgrade is on the way, which would significantly improve broadband services for homes and businesses. The upgrade is expected to bring speeds of up to 50 Gbps.

Test Performance

According to Etisalat by e&, it carefully evaluated a range of 50G PON capabilities to make sure the network is ready for the implementation of 50G PON in the testing stage. The maximum line rate is getting close to the theoretical limit specified in the 50G PON standard, and all indicators have reached a leading-edge level, it stated.

In order to create a single integrated network, the optical power budget satisfies the requirements of the Optical Distribution Network (ODN) application in live networks and permits the coexistence of 50G PON and XG(S)-PON terminals.

50G PON Tech

Etisalat emphasized that the fiber optic technology enabling 1 Gigabit and higher broadband connections is called passive optical networks, or PONs. Following XG(S)-PON (10-Gigabit-capable passive optical networks), the International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) defines the 50G PON as the next generation.

Network Upgrade

XG(S)-PON is currently the predominant technology, according to Etisalat by e&, which addressed the technological landscape of the sector. However, the research and development of next-generation access technologies has become more crucial due to the recent rapid development of new digital services like AR/VR, ultra-fast cloud storage, and 8K 3D, which can be viewed without glasses. 50G PON therefore becomes a popular option in the sector. In addition to increasing capacity five times faster than XG(S)-PON, 50G PON lowers latency by ten times.”
