Samsung is reportedly working on a new smartwatch running Tizen OS.
Samsung’s Gear S2 smartwatch got raving reviews last year for its sharp circular display to a fun rotating bezel UI. Now, Samsung is gearing up (pun intended) to launch a new smartwatch, which is internally codenamed Solis.
Solis in Spanish means sun, which clearly indicates the next generation Samsung smartwatch will also sport a circular display, reports Sammobile. The codename seems to follow up the previous generations’ Orbis, which means orbit. The next generation Samsung smartwatch is likely to retain the widely appreciated rotating bezel, but perhaps with more functionalities.
According to the publication, the Solis will bear model numbers SM-R760, SM-R765, SM-R770, SM-R765V, and SM-R765S with the last two ones being the carrier variants. Like the previous Gear smartwatches, this too will run on Tizen OS. Right now there are no other hardware details about the Solis.
Earlier this year Samsung had launched its Gear S2 in India. We had spent some time with the device and loved its rotating bezel UI. The circular UI looked beautiful and pretty optimized for the rotating bezel interface, and worked fluidly. For more check out our Samsung Gear S2: Hands-on and first impressions
