At the IFA occasion in Berlin this year, Samsung surprised the world with its Galaxy Note Edge smartphone. Much like any premium handset, the Note Edge gives a high end features and specifications, yet what differentiated it from the rest was its curved screen at one side. Xiaomi could offer a comparable handset soon.
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is apparently planning a shot at a Galaxy Note Edge-like smartphone. The smartphone is generally named as the Xiaomi Arch, and from a leaked image, the handset is by all accounts a venture up from the Edge, as it comes with dual curved edges.
Initially reported by GizmoChina, the smartphone is doweled to screen active notifications and shortcut menus on the edges. The company could use one screen to live stream data, for example, stock prices and updates from games among others. In case that the company does choose to launch the smartphone, it will be intriguing to check whether it figures out how to keep the cost of the handset in budget range, one of the USPs of Xiaomi’s product.
Xiaomi is anticipated to announce the Mi 5 and MiPad 2 handsets at the CES tradeshow occasion next week. From what we have heard in this way, the Mi 5 includes a 5.7-inch QHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) screen, and is controlled by a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor matched with 3GB of RAM and a 20.7-megapixel back primary camera.
The MiPad 2 is probably to incorporate a 1.8GHz Intel power chipset combined with 2GB of RAM, 7.9-inch of screen with 2048×1536 pixels resolution, 16GB of onboard memory, and MIUI cover layer on top of Android 4.4.4 Kitkat. Given the timing of the release, the company may have scheduled to announce the handset at CES
