Qualcomm, Xiaomi and Vodafone Trial Next 5G Technology for Better Upload Speeds

New 5G upload technology

Vodafone, the biggest European telecom provider, worked with Qualcomm and Xiaomi to test new 5G technology that would allow users to access better uplink speeds. Additionally, it will support providing a better coverage experience. During the test, the firms’ top uplink speed was 273 Mbps. Vodafone stated in a statement that improved 5G technology expands coverage, boosts capacity, and raises the bar for upload speeds to levels closer to those of downloads.

New 5G test

This test was conducted using the latest Qualcomm (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3) silicon technology within Vodafone’s new 5G SA (standalone) networks in Germany and Spain. The next flagship from Xiaomi was the smartphone that was utilized for testing (probably the Xiaomi 14). Customers will be able to transfer files to friends and colleagues across mobile networks more quickly with improved upload rates. Although 5G networks today are capable of very fast downloads, their upload and uplink performance is not excellent. This is why it’s appealing to see what companies have tested.

“We want our customers to be among the first anywhere in the world to benefit from this new 5G feature when it becomes available.”

Vodafone Chief Network Officer Alberto Ripepi.

In order to lead the industry in putting together and testing the silicon chips, devices, and networks required to make it a reality, we work jointly with key partners. At the same time, we are creating a more robust ecosystem for vendors and developers.”
